Apple Mac Pro 2019

At this year’s WWDC, Apple announced a lot of new software products for its entire ecosystem. iOS, watchOS, tvOS and macOS got major update promising new features to make using these products easier. However, in between all the software announcements, Apple also unveiled the new 2019 Mac Pro. This is a major upgrade in almost every way on paper and Apple claims this computer offers massive power for content creators.

The 2019 Mac Pro now starts at $5,999 while the Pro Display XDR monitor starts from $4,999. Apple is offering up to Intel Xeon 28-core processor on the Mac Pro and also bringing several custom Apple solutions to deliver unlimited computing power. The Mac Pro will make it to India during the Fall, which means you will be able to get one of these after the launch of the new iPhones in September.

The 2019 Mac Pro has got a lot of impressive technology packed underneath and if you are interested in buying one, here’s a quick look at everything it offers.

What is Mac Pro?

The 2019 Mac Pro is the most powerful computer Apple makes at the moment. The Mac Pro is strictly meant for enterprises and content creators who need unparalleled computing power for carrying on with their tasks.

What does the new Mac Pro offer?

Quite a lot of computing power at first glance. In terms of specifications, the Mac Pro has absolutely nailed it. Here’s a look at what’s it got.

–The Mac Pro runs on Intel Xeon processors with up to 28 cores and 64 PCI Express lanes for tremendous performance and massive bandwidth. This powerful setup needs 300W power to keep it running.

–To ensure the performance stays top-notch, the Mac Pro comes with up to 1.5TB RAM. Along with that, the Mac Pro also gets 8 PCIe slots in addition to the standard array of external connectors – 2 USB ports, 2 Thunderbolt ports and 2 Ethernet ports.

–Graphics processing hasn’t been ignored with the Mac Pro either. To ensure top-notch performance, Apple introduces a custom MPX Module that takes in multiple GPUs. The Mac Pro will be offered with the AMD Radeon Pro 580X as standard. However, users can upgrade to the mighty AMD Radeon Pro Vega 2 GPU with up to 32GB VRAM. If this much power still isn’t enough, the Mac Pro can also run on two GPUs to offer more graphics processing power.

–Apple knows that content creators want extremely faster processing and rendering power. Hence, the new Mac Pro comes with Apple’s Afterburner card. This component can process up to 6 billion pixels per second, meaning that users can display videos in ProRes and ProRes RAW codecs in multiple displays. In fact, Apple says the Mac Pro can manage up to three streams of 8K or 12 streams of 4K simultaneously.

–With such powerful components requiring lots of power, Apple has built-in a 1.4kW power supply into the Mac Pro.

–A computer as powerful as this does generate a lot of heat and Apple has built custom cooling solutions to keep the temperatures under control. The Mac Pro has three massive fans and makes copious use of liquid-cooling systems. Additionally, the stunning design also aids greater ventilation.

New Mac Pro gets its new custom display

Along with the Mac Pro, Apple also announced a display that would make the perfect companion to the computer. Called the Pro Display XDR, Apple says the visual performance is as good as more expensive reference monitors.

The Pro Display XDR comes with a 32-inch LCD panel that can render at 6K resolution. The new Retina Display can go up to 1000nits brightness maintaining great colour accuracy. It can even go up to 1600 nits. The monitor supports HDR colours as well.

The Pro Display XDR also gets a similar ventilated design at the rear to vent out heat. It also comes with a Pro Stand that allows the display to be rotated at 90 degrees. The Pro Stand costs $999.
